Dr. Shrouds was very happy that he hadn’t seen you since your 12 month appointment because that meant that you have been healthy and haven’t been sick. He was very happy with your growth, although I was a little worried he may say something about your weight since you don’t seem to be gaining weight very rapidly but he wasn’t concerned at all. You are very active and only eat when you want to eat and how much you want to eat so it doesn’t surprise me that you haven’t gained much weight.
When Dr. Shrouds came in the room, you happily greeted him and handed him a book as you told him it was a book and waited for him to “read” it to you. As he flipped the pages, you told him what each of the animals is and the sounds they make.
He said he was VERY impressed by how many words you can say. He said that most 18 month olds don’t even say most of the words that you are already saying and he can’t wait to see what you are saying at your 18 month appointment.
Since he was already very impressed with you, mommy decided to play a trick on him. He was wearing a yellow wrist band so as he was checking your ears, I pointed to his wrist band and asked you what color it was and you very enthusiastically said YELLOW! He couldn’t believe that you knew your colors! Little did he know, every color to you right now is yellow. After I let him believe you indeed are a genius for a minute, I told him the truth, but he had to test it for himself and asked you what color the bed was and of course you said yellow, when it is actually blue. I’m sure by your 18 month appointment, you’ll be telling Dr. Shrouds the color of everything in the room and what all the different items in the room are.
When the nurse came in the room to give you your shot, she said that Dr. Shrouds told her to ask you about animals and colors so she brought you a frog. When she asked you what it was, you weren’t sure because you did your “don’t know” but I think that was because it was still in the plastic so it was hard for you to tell. When I told you what it was, you happily told us that the frog says “ribbit, ribbit!” Then she took the frog out of the plastic for you and you told her it was a frog and gave it a kiss, maybe you were hoping he’d turn into prince charming.
You only had to have 1 shot this time and I was so proud of you for not crying at all! You sure were about to but it all happened so quickly and I eagerly distracted you using the frog and you were happy as long as you were saying “ribbet, ribbet” or kissing the frog.
By the end of your visit, Dr. Shrouds said that you made his day. You make my day every day! I love you so much!
