1 Month Old

It's hard to believe a month has already passed by.  It seems like it was just yesterday we brought Abigail home from the hospital.

I've spent the first month doing my best to establish some sort of routine/schedule to keep things from being too chaotic.  After several days of keeping Abigail naked to keep her awake during certain times, she finally started adjusting which not only made the days more predictable, but the nights so much better when her night time sleep became consistent with going to bed around 7:30pm, waking at 2:30am to eat and go right back to sleep, waking again at 5:30am to eat and go right back to sleep and then waking for the day around 7:30am. The night of her 1 month "birthday", I even got a great present when she slept from 7:30pm - 3:30am and then again until 7:30am.  This has continued since so I am hopeful we are on the right track to her being just as great of a sleeper as her big sister!

Abigail reminds me A LOT of Olivia at this age, both in how she looks and by her demeanor.   I would say the main difference is that Olivia hardly ever spit up and Abigail on the other hand does quite often.  It has gotten better since the first few weeks, but I still get surprised and find myself with spit up on my clothes or in my hair wondering when I'll get time to shower or change.  This is something I was not used to!

At one month, Abigail already loves looking up at mobiles and will try to reach and grab the one in her swing.  She loves to be held and cuddle.  I find myself ignoring everything that needs to be done just so she can stay and nap on me during the day because she is too sweet to put down.  She loves to do tummy time, but only if it is with her laying on my belly and she lifts her head really well and will look up at me with her big, beautiful blue eyes.  At around 3 weeks, we moved Abigail to her crib.  I had a hard time sleeping with her in the room with me since every noise she made would make me wake up and she has done great sleeping there.  She is also an incredibly slow eater, taking anywhere from 30-60 minutes to finish a bottle.  When fussy, she can be calmed easily by lifting her up and down in the air as if using her as weights.  I will have her to thank for my tone arms this summer.

Abigail has a big sister who absolutely loves and adores her and she already proves to fit perfectly in with our hectic life style.  In her first month she has already been tailgating, to a church event, to a few get together at different houses, tagged along on  a birthday party with her big sister and joined us for Disney on Ice for Olivia's class field trip.  She makes the perfect addition to our family and I can't imagine life without her.
