We might not have got snow here, but we went and found some just for Olivia.
We went with my parents and aunt Connie for a quick trip to Boone a few days after Christmas. When the hotel was booked, the forecast called for snow but that later changed. We were able to go up to the Appalachian Ski Resort to find man made snow however. But this also meant they had ice skating! Olivia was really excited about this, but she had never been skating before so she had no idea what she was in for.
I don't think she was expecting how slippery and difficult ice skating would be!
Luckily they had child helper things that helped their balance.
Considering it was her first time on skates, I think she did great!
She might have fallen a few times...
But always got right back up!
As expected, she didn't last too long. But made it long enough to do a few rounds with daddy and then Connie. I didn't think ice skating while 6 months pregnant was the smartest idea, so I had to sit out for this one and just take pictures instead.
She said she really liked ice skating and wants to do it again!
Although, she said her favorite part was playing in the snow...
And throwing snowballs at Nana!
She really enjoyed playing in the snow.
And her boots made the cutest flower prints in the snow. She'd walk around making prints everywhere to see the flowers they made!
We then headed to Sugar Mountain to check out the ski resort there. They had tubing, but the line was ridiculous. But luckily we found a golf course that had a little bit of real snow left. Just enough to take our own tube down! Olivia took turns riding with everyone.
I was even crazy enough to slide down with her 6 months pregnant. I couldn't miss out on all the fun!
You would think all this playing in the snow would have worn Olivia out, but she was just as hyper when we got back to the room. After a bath, we put in a movie for her to help wind her down until she finally fell asleep.
