Catching Up

I will blame it on the pregnancy, but whatever the reason I have been completely awful at blogging and taking pictures.  Going through my camera and phone, I have found several pictures from February to now worth blogging about so I am preparing to catch up and hopefully not get so behind again!

We celebrated Jacob's 2nd birthday with him with a Mickey Mouse themed party.  Olivia had fun getting to see a lot of her friends there and stayed entertained by the activities.  One activity was making necklaces and I am almost positive she was the only one with the attention span or desire to actually finish the necklace.

The necklace was certainly worth the effort because it became something to snack on for the rest of the party.  And for the first time ever, Olivia actually missed the cake because she preferred the chance to get to play in Alyssa's room without anyone else and she was too into the puzzle she was working on to come down.

A few of us stayed past the birthday party to hang out and I had this random urge to see what the guys were up to outside with the kids.  This is what I saw when I walked out there.

I was a little freaked out at first but then I saw how much fun she was having and couldn't help but to enjoy watching her have so much fun.  She actually kept telling daddy to go faster!

Sometime in February, I chaperoned a field trip for Olivia's class to EdVenture.  I had planned for her to ride with me because I was not at all ready for her to ride a bus, but the teacher said that was part of the experience for the kids.  Luckily the buses did have harnesses and they were all buckled in, but I still wasn't ready for Olivia to be riding a school bus!  At least I got to follow the buses so it helped to make her first bus ride a little easier and I was also relieved to know I'm not the only crazy mom since another mom chaperoned feeling the same way as I did!

This definitely wasn't Olivia's first time at EdVenture.  She's been there quite a lot so she already knew where everything was and kept asking when it would be time to go to Publix which is what she calls the supermarket area there.  But, EdVenture with friends is definitely a fun experience!

Her teachers couldn't believe that she wanted to dress in the full fireman uniform because of how girly she is.  But to Olivia, dress up is dress up!

The field trip ended with lunch at McDonalds near the preschool.  After eating they all got to play for a little while to run off the energy.  I'm pretty sure they all took long naps once they got back to class!

Now that I am caught up on my camera pictures, here is a lot of randomness from my phone...

We went with Mary-Addison and baby Elly to see Eva perform in a dance performance of Snow White.  Olivia just thought Eva was the most beautiful girl dressed in her bird costume and couldn't keep from staring at her.

The dance show was at our old High School so afterward we took a walk down "memory lane."   Even though we are pretty sure none of our kids will go to the same school, it was still fun to show them around and talk about the High School days.  Meg and I definitely felt brought back in time when we went in the practice gym where we spent many days in there for cheerleading.  The kids loved the big gym the most and had fun pretending to play basketball!

Olivia's class has a letter of the week and on Friday's they have show and tell and get to bring in something that has to do with the letter of the week.  A couple week ago the letter was "V" and Olivia told me she wanted to bring in a veil but she didn't have one.  She was completely ecstatic when I told her I had one she could bring and even more excited when she saw my wedding dress and wanted to try it on.  I have no idea how I'll ever give her away one day when she does get married.

I took this picture because Olivia was literally sitting like this for her entire show she got to watch.  What a priss!  And if you notice in the background, we've started getting all the baby stuff out and washed and Olivia is wondering why we are just bringing this stuff out because she uses them as toys for her dolls!  I am pretty sure all batteries will need replaced before Abigail arrives.

We had a fun play date with the Coggin's where we took the kids roller skating!  This was Olivia's first time and she was so excited!  She did much better than ice skating but she still has a lot of work before she's skating on her own!

She is already ready to go back skating.  This will make a great exercise/activity when I am ready to lose this pregnancy weight!

This place also had a giant play area which was nice to give the kids a break from skating and the parents a chance to talk!

Olivia was really excited about doing the hokey pokey which required a lot of assistance from daddy!

They also did the Cha, Cha Slide and based off Olivia's "get funky with it" I'm not sure hip hop will be her style of dance!

I came prepared with a snack in my purse which was great since all they had to offer there was pizza and nachos and we were planning to go to lunch afterward.

During lunch, I looked over to hear Olivia saying "v" and writing a "v" and then continued with "i and a".  I missed her writing the "o, l and i" but this is the first time I've seen her write her entire name all by herself with no assistance at all.   And the picture wasn't taken backwards or anything, she wrote her name backwards, but still, I was impressed!!!  She is now in the 3 year old preschool since right after she turned 3 and they work a lot with writing, cutting and coloring and we have noticed a big improvement already in these areas.

And lastly, the kids have been celebrating National Lutheran Schools week by dressing up as different things.  Monday was school colors day which is blue and yellow and I completely forgot until we were leaving the house so I grabbed a blue and yellow bow to put in Olivia's hair.  Slack, but it's better than nothing!

Tuesday was decades day.  Going through Olivia's wardrobe I found a dress that I thought could somewhat pass for 70's so we went for the 70's!

Wednesday was crazy hair day and in preparation for it, I dried Olivia's hair the night before making it straight.  I always have to wet her hair to brush it in the mornings and I needed it dry for spraying color in it.  This is the first time Olivia's hair has ever been straight since it started curling when she was around a year so she looked so different to me and it was crazy to see how long her hair really is!  And even though it was so easy to quickly run a brush through her hair in the morning without having to spray it down with water and conditioning spray first, I wouldn't wish for her to not have curls, I just love her curls! I wish I felt the same way about mine!

Can you guess who was crazy excited to have pink in their hair for the day?  All the store had was purple so she wasn't so excited but when I put it in her hair, it looked more pink which was a big surprise and excited Olivia.  She said "mommy, you were fooling me, it is pink!"  Which that made me happy because I knew how much more excited she would be about the pink hair than purple.  Now I wonder how many times I'm going to be asked to make her hair pink again.

And today was geek day!  I didn't want to go too crazy on the outfit since we do have special plans tonight (which I completely plan to blog about tomorrow so stay tuned) and we won't have time to go home and change first, but the glasses made the outfit!
